Sun Xiaoxuan (David Sun)
David joined Sinosteel Corporation in 2001 and was appointed Managing Director of Sinosteel Australia in 2013. Prior to this appointment he held the position of Deputy General Manager being responsible for managing the Channar Mining Joint Venture with Rio Tinto.
David has a Bachelor of Economics from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, a Master of Management from Tianjin University of Commerce and a Phd in Economics from the China Academy of Social Sciences.
In 2013 David became the President of the China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (Perth Branch) and currently is a member of the Curtin Business School Advisory Council.
Sijun (Tony) Cheng
Tony Cheng has represented Sinosteel Australia Mining Pty Ltd. since Nov 2005 and more recently Sinosteel Ocean Capital Pty Ltd. He holds a Master’s Degree in the international finance. He joined Sinosteel Corporation in 1985 and has had comprehensive responsibility for major projects including the importation of technology for steel making and mining equipment for all major Chinese steel mills. Mr Cheng has also been general manager of the Sinosteel Investment Company, responsible for Sinosteel investment activities and mergers within China.
Chief Executive Officer
Stuart has over 30 years of extensive international business experience in; mining, supply chain management, off-shore manufacturing and corporate restructuring across a diverse range of industries including fast moving consumable goods (FMCG), food processing, merchandising, manufacturing & commodities trading.
Stuart has lead SMG’s commercial and legal functions through infrastructure development, mine development, mining and covered iron ore sales, joint-ventures development and local/state government negotiations. He has also held senior international management positions with listed multinational companies Kanematsu & Toyota Tsusho where he was responsible for developing project execution strategies and conducting due diligence on projects throughout North America, Asia and Europe in respect to procurement, supply-chains, logistics and outsourcing manufacturing.
Stuart is on the Executive Council of The Chamber of Minerals and Energy (W.A) and has been a board member of the ‘Business Law and Regulation Policy Committee’ at the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) and while playing in the AFL with the Richmond FC he completed a bachelor of business degree majoring in international trade and economics. Stuart also has an MBA from the University of Melbourne.
Ti (John) Wang
Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary
Ti Wang joined Sinosteel Australia Mining Pty Ltd in Nov 2005, and is responsible for the financing issues of Sinosteel Ocean Capital Pty Ltd and SMG. He holds a Master’s Degree in international finance from China and a Master Degree in Accounting from Curtin University.
Ti’s experience includes a JV position as the finance representative of JV studies, acting as the Secretary of Policy Committee of JV, looking after the basic accounting, taxation, financing and iron ore trading. John was also involved in the M&A of Midwest Corporation Limited.
Exploration Manager (SMC)
Paul holds an Applied Science in Applied Geology degree from RMIT with over 18 years of industry experience in gold, base metals, phosphate and more recently specialising in Iron ore. He has worked extensively throughout Australia and also other more challenging jurisdictions around the world. Paul has held positions including green-fields conceptual geology, resource definition, open cut mine geologist and underground production geologist.
He was part of the team to discover and build the mine at Lady Annie Copper Project and also added several million tonnes of iron ore to the BCIron Nullagine Project. As exploration manager he is the statutory appointee for all SMC tenements and leads the Exploration team within SMC.
