Sinosteel Midwest supports life education for regional youth

Sinosteel Midwest Corporation today announced it will contribute $30,000 to the Midwest Life Education program.

The new sponsorship agreement sees Sinosteel Midwest commit $15,000 per annum in 2010 and 2011 to help fund the program, designed to educate youth about healthy lifestyle choices.

It will be rolled out to remote Mid West schools in Cue, Mt Magnet, Meekatharra, Yalgoo, Pia Wajarri, Morawa an Perenjori.

Chief Operating Officer Giulio Casello said the company chose to support the Life Education Program because it aligns with Sinosteel Midwest's commitment to supporting the education of out in our local communities.

"As a company, we recognise the importance of providing the next generation with these essential life skills and encouraging them to lead happy an healthy lives," he said.

"We are delighted to be able to support this initiative, which reaches many of the communities in which we operate, as part of our ongoing sponsorship program."

Sinosteel Midwest's contribution over the next tow years will allow the program to expand into more schools across the Mid West and will help to develop new and innovative programs for our remote communities.

Catering for students from kindergarten through to Year 7, the Midwest Life Education program will cover issues including healthy eating, exercise, medicine use, effects of smoking and alcohol use, decision making, peer influence and refusal skills.
